22 Hotels win top awards
Days Inns - Canada recently presented 22 awards to its top hotels at the Days Inns Worldwide Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prominent Awards of Recognition are presented annually paying tribute to the leading Days Inn properties across Canada.

“These properties have excelled in their commitment to providing the market with a top quality product,” said Irwin Prince, president and COO, Days Inns - Canada. “They have demonstrated exceptional service providing a benchmark for all of our franchises to strive for.” 

The company introduced a new Award of Recognition this year, the Highest TripRewards Enrolments, which recognizes the hotel who enrolled the highest number of TripRewards members based on number of hotel rooms.

Awards of Recognition Recipients included:

•    2006 New Property of the Year: Days Inn & Suites - Collingwood, Ontario
•    2006 General Manager of the Year: Shayne Thomson, Days Inn - Brandon, Manitoba
•    2006 General Manager of the Year: Kevin Kalyta, Days Inn & Suites - Thunder Bay, Ontario
•    2006 General Manager of the Year: Joy Prosser, Days Inn & Conference Centre - Oromocto, New Brunswick
•    2006 Best Sales Efforts of the Year: Days Inn - Brandon, Manitoba
•    2006 Best Sales Efforts of the Year: Days Inn - Barrie, Ontario

•    2006 Humanitarian Award: Days Inn & Conference Centre - Montreal Airport, Quebec

The Chairman’s Awards for Quality, were also handed out.  This award recognizes Days Inn properties that have received the highest quality assurance evaluation scores in the chain.

These hotels have continually demonstrated excellence in operational tasks and customer service, achieving a quality assurance score of at least 495 out of a possible 500 points, on each of the two annual unannounced inspections. This year, nine hotels were recognized for their outstanding achievement in 2006.

•      Days Inn - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (General Manager Grant Smith)
•      Days Inn & Suites - Thunder Bay, Ontario (General Manager Kevin Kalyta)
•      Days Inn - Montreal Downtown, Quebec (General Manager Marc Deriger)

This year’s annual conference which included strategic business seminars, a trade exhibition and marketing updates was designed to prepare Days Inn properties from across the globe for the opportunities of 2007 and beyond. Delegates celebrated a “New Day Dawning” for the Days Inn brand with the unveiling of a new logo, while also tapping into brand resources to help drive improved property performance, revenues and profits.
