Travel and tourism to generate $7 trillion in 2007

Montenegro, China and India fastest growing in next decade
 
World travel and tourism is expected to generate in excess of US $7 trillion in 2007, increasing to over US $13 trillion over the coming decade, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)

The WTTC’s latest findings show that the world’s largest travel and tourism economies are holding strong in the top 10 list for 2007. The US continues to lead, with demand accounting for more than US $1,689.3 billion this year.

According to the WTTC, China, currently in third spot behind Japan, will show considerable gains over next 10 years and is forecast to move up to second position by 2017.

Also by 2017, the Russian Federation, which has not figured previously, will enter the top 10 list of countries expected to total the largest amount (in absolute terms) on travel and tourism demand.

Montenegro, China and India are defined as countries set to grow fastest over 2007 and the next decade, with demand growing each year at a rate of 10.1%, 9.1% and 7.9% respectively.
